Is Matt Lloyd’s Mobe a Scam? – Shocking, FTC Shut them down!

I have seen many people on the internet ask: “Is Matt Lloyd’s MOBE a Scam?“… Well..

Matt Lloyd’s MOBE has been shut down by the FTC in June 2018!

The Federal Trade Commission has charged three individuals and nine businesses for taking more than $125 million from thousands of consumers with a fraudulent business education program called MOBE (“My Online Business Education”).

Is Matt Lloyd's Mobe a Scam - Shocking FTC Shut them down

What was MOBE?

MOBE (“My Online Business Education”) was created by Matt Lloyd in 2011.

This allowed Matt to become a multimillionaire and help other people achieve financial freedom.

MOBE was a MLM program, teaching people to make money. It had products as cheap as $49, all the way to $29,997 + $295/month.

I personally don’t agree with programs that sell their system at such prices, taking advantage of people who are desperate to break free from their financial struggles!

There are many alternative courses out there that can help people achieve financial freedom, without them having to take out a loan for it!

How much was MOBE?

MOBE had loads of different training options.

They would start you off by selling you a $49 product and then upsell all the way up to $29,997.

The training’s main focus was to help you promote MOBE, so that you could earn commission from it.

Here is a list of the 7 different training levels:

  1. My Top Tier Business ($49)
  2. Standard License Right ($19.95/month)
  3. Silver Masterclass ($2,497)
  4. Gold Masterclass ($4,997)
  5. Titanium Mastermind ($9,997)
  6. Platinum Mastermind ($16,667)
  7. Diamond Mastermind ($29,997)

My Top Tier Business (MTTB) was the introductory course for MOBE, which means that in order for you to become a MOBE consultant, you then had to pay $19.95/month and purchase the Standard License Right on top of it.

Furthermore, commissions were given out according to the level of training you had purchased, so if you had only bought the Standard License, you would have not been eligible to sell the Diamond Mastermind.

Where would one find so much money to invest in the first place? I personally could never give my money away like that and risk more than what I can afford!

This is why I knew I could trust Wealthy Affiliate as one of the top programs for learning how to be successful online.

You can join for FREE, without the need of entering your credit card details and you can enjoy loads of benefits, even without upgrading to PREMIUM, which is only $49/month by the way and no further upsells!

Will MOBE’s training ever be available again?

Having being shut down by the FTC, I don’t think MOBE will ever come back.

It was even reported that Matt Lloyd had gone into hiding right after the FTC lawsuit.

I am sure you can imagine that a company like this would never gain anybody’s trust again!

  1. Good insight into this article review. When a MLM scheme that propose to help an individual break loose from financial crisis are the ones adding to your financial problems, one has to be careful. That’s why I boldly say anywhere that WA is the only online business that gives you the surety of becoming financially independent without extorting you. Thanks to Kyle and Carson for this awesome platform they’ve provided to help the Masses. Nice information. Thank you.

    • True… Nowadays you have got to be very careful online.

I am glad to hear you are enjoying being at Wealthy Affiliate. This is one of the most genuine platforms out there!

Have you been at WA for long?

  2. Well, in my honest opinion, I don’t like any mlm business. They appears to use other people to achieve their goals and keep others suffering and searching for downliners. At the end of the day it will be the people at the top that is enjoying everything while others suffer.

    • Hi Kenechi,

You are right. It is so scary to think how many people out there only think about their own interest at the cost of other people’s weaknesses.

I am glad I found Wealthy Affiliate and I surely want to stick to it!

  3. I think this was the site I ran across some time ago. I remember thinking it sounded pretty scammy from the get go. It’s unfortunate that we have to deal with this so much nowadays. That’s the reason there aren’t more people out there trying harder to make their own businesses. Scams like this tarnish the entire industry and frighten off thousands of people who might otherwise do pretty well. The way things are going with automation and AI, large sections of the job market are likely to dry up in the coming years and there will be a whole lot of people out there with no skills and no plan for how to respond. Thanks for sharing this! Hopefully, people will get a better idea what to look out for, even though MOBE isn’t around anymore.

    • Hi Mark,

I totally agree with you. I was afraid to try any online program but ended up trying Wealthy Affiliate due to the free membership option and the low monthly premium cost.

I am glad I never really got scammed and sometimes you just got to follow your instinct.

Have you tried many programs out there?

  4. A good look at one of the biggest MLM pyramid scam I have seen over the years. There are plenty one there that take advantage of people in their time of need. They offer you a small entry fee, then bomb you with the costly up sales to succeed. In the end, people dump more money into the garbage.
The Wealthy Affiliate program is simple to use, has a great online community for assistance, and doesn’t kill you with the up sale. You get everything for one price that has a discounted option. They are even willing you help you grow at your own pace.

    • Thank you for your comment Ken!

I personally never trust these upselling people.

Wealthy Affiliate are clear from the start and this is what made me trust them and join them straight away!

      All the best,

  5. Wow, I’m glad Wealthy Affiliate was the first company I looked at. I had not heard of MOBE and cannot imagine paying such exorbitant fees. With Wealthy Affiliate, I paid for the year upfront and I’m confident that I will earn that back by using the skills I am being taught. Thanks for the information.

    • Hi Theresa,

Indeed! I too was lucky enough to find Wealthy Affiliate straight away.

I cannot imagine how I would feel if I were to be scammed like that!

      All the best,

  6. Great job in differentiating the scam sites, like MOBE and how they operate versus Wealthy Affiliate. I have personally spent several hundred dollars on many different affiliate products and training sites and nothing compares to WA. Best of luck and continued success.

    • Hi James,

Sorry to hear that you had to spend quite a lot of money before finding Wealthy Affiliate.

Luckily, I found it as soon as I started researching “Affiliate Marketing”.

All the best with your projects!

  7. Yes the scamming gets very old. I am tired of dealing with people like that and no matter what you do or where you go , There will always be 1 0r 2 in the the crowd.
They ruin it for everyone else . People are afraid to do anything online anymore.
They are afraid they will be scammed!!!
Thank you for sharing, and yes wealthy affiliate is a great program with honest people
